WELCOME TO ACROSS IRIS LANES
We are a small Iris garden located in North Eastern Tennessee.  You may be familiar with us and our former location in Olympia Wa. Due to retirement we have down sized to approximately 250 varieties including seedlings from our hybridizing program. At this time we are not offering any varieties for sale.

However, we invite you to browse through our photo album and enjoy the array of colors and variety of iris.  You will find SDBs, MTBs, IBs, BBs, TB's and our new seedlings.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

It's the 1950's. A young farm boy in    Southern Minnesota snatches the spring iris catalog from their rural mailbox and reverently pours over the pages of colorful tall-bearded iris. After much study, he picks his very favorite -Lavender and Gold Lace -and asks his mother if she could order that one. His loving selfless mother, with little money to spare, grants his request. Other iris in her garden are Spun Gold, Wabash and Cascade Splendor.

Emily's Ocean Blue TB 2016

Fast forward through his life as a farmer/family man with a daughter and son, dairy foods distributor, radio announcer, to 1994. Now a much older man, he and his wife, Luci, have bought a 5-acre piece of land in the Nisqually Valley near Olympia, Washington. They buy six new iris rhizomes from a local nursery and also receive a gift certificate for Cooley's Gardens, sent by their long-time family friend, Beverly.

Cream de la Cream IB 2015

By 2010 he has 500 varieties of iris, a budding hybridizing program with it's first introductions, one named Elinore's Legacy after his mother, and another, Bevie's Delight, for their good friend. Most recent introductions include Emily's Ocean Blue and Cream de la Cream.  This year, 2016, we have relocated to NE Tennessee, downsizing to a more manageable garden size. We will continue some hybridizing, primarily with median iris.  Continue to enjoy our website. Watch for new introductions!
